Why become a co-op Member-Owner?

Owner participation is the heart of High Falls Food Co-op!

Reason #1: Co-operative membership is about contributing to a community. Your membership gives you a voice into how our co-op's purchasing power helps support the community in which you live. Our shelves and cases are always stocked with selections of local produce, grocery items, and health/beauty products.

Reason #2: The food we stock is carefully chosen, organic and/or local whenever possible, and environmentally conscious. We make this amazing food available to you and everyone in the community.

Reason #3: To support an organization that is run co-operatively. We are proud to be part of a network of co-ops across the globe.

Prices are comparable to other stores, although prices can vary because as a small business we store all of our goods in our 2400 square-foot space. This means our bulk foods are some of the freshest available for purchase in the Hudson Valley.

We really value the input of our member-owners. We listen to feedback about our products. We have a relationship with our member-owners. You have a say in the direction of the Co-op and we want to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out to us on our contact page with any concerns or suggestions.

Help keep food dollars in our community!

Their are several ways to become a member-owner. The Co-op invites you to choose your Co-op Member-Owner share option based on your income and financial situation, so we can build economic solidarity within our community. All Co-op member shares cost $200. However, the Co-op invites members to select an option that best reflects their financial situation.

Please review our solidarity fund details for guidance in choosing your payment option. If you are not able to pay the full $200 Co-op member share cost, we want to do what we can to help you join, or remain a member. If you have the means to contribute more than the $200 we want to encourage you to pay anything over and above the $200 in to our solidarity fund, in support of our goal to make Co-op membership accessible to everyone in our community.
