How long have you has a passion for cooking and how did you first get started?
My mom is an excellent cook and her mother was as well so I grew up surrounded by great food. I used to help them bake and cook and I learned a ton from them. They are the reason I love to cook!
I went vegan when I was 13 back in 2000. My options for eating out were limited at the time so that's when I really started cooking. Currently I'm vegetarian but still love to cook vegan food.
What advice do you have for someone new to cooking?
I would say that when cooking it's important to experiment. Don't be afraid to try a new combination of flavors or something that seems unusual.
What do you like most about working at the Co-op?
What I like about the Co-op the most is the people! I love the people I work with as well as the people I get to meet at the. It is such a hub for the Hudson Valley community.
What is something that we may be surprised to know about you?
You may be surprised to know that I have an art degree and have almost completed a vet tech degree as well. As a side gig I do a lot of specialized petsitting as well as custom pet portraits!
As Kitchen Co-Manager, what are your visions for the department?
It's exciting to be a new co-manager of the kitchen. My goals are to continue to provide tasty food for the people! I am bringing in some new recipes and am really trying to listen to our customer base. Our kitchen is super tiny but we try to make everyone happy.
Thank you Lila!
