Jodi's Chanukah Cookies


Our general manager, Jodi, whips up these Chanukah cookies every year for her family and loved ones. We are so grateful to be able to share them with you. 


1.5 cups flower
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp aniseed, crushed
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup cane sugar or coconut sugar
1 egg yolk
1/4 cup honey


Stir together flour, baking powder and aniseed.
In a small mixing bowl, beat shortening for 30 seconds.
Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
Add egg yolk and honey and beat well.
Add flour mixture and beat until well mixed. 

Roll dough 1/4" thick (or thicker depending on your preference) and cut with cookie cutters.
Place on a greased baking sheet and bake 375 degrees for 6 to 7 minutes (or until done).
Cool on the cookie sheet for one minute, then remove and cool thoroughly. 
Makes about 30 cookies.
